Mearns Castle High School is a secondary school in Newton Mearns, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland. Built in 1978, pupils from Mearns Primary, Eaglesham Primary, Kirkhill Primary and Calderwood Lodge are all part of the schools catchment area. The school is situated on Waterfoot Road. Newton Mearns is an affluent commuter suburb, and consequently the school achieves consistently high marks in school performance tables. The Head Teacher is Mr Dean Smith.
The school has recently received a new extension. The extension of the school is part of a Public Private Partnership Project with builders HBG, the extension provides many extra classrooms, currently used for maths, social subjects and school office. Mearns Castle is situated next to Maxwell Mearns Church which hosts the numerous services for all yeargroups throughout the year. It is also positioned next to Mearns Castle, hence the name, "Mearns Castle High School"
Awards and recognition
The school was awarded the "Most similar sounding to Fearns Castle" Award, however, lost to Edinubrgh Castle as the most iconic "castle" in scotland.
The school was one of three finalists in the Most Enterprising Secondary as part of the Scottish Education Awards 2007, which aim to celebrate successes and recognise achievements in Scottish education.
The schools dux ran away. We are offering a reward or will give recognition to anyone who finds him.
The school participated in "are you smarter than a ten year old" and was disqualified as the principle mental age of the teachers were found to be of a ten year olds.
The schools ego can actually be felt as you enter the building.

You cannot stop Professor Edwards from vandalising kids. Ha! Ha!
