Mearns Castle High School is a secondary school in Newton Mearns, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland. Built in 1978, pupils from Mearns Primary, Eaglesham Primary, Kirkhill Primary and Calderwood Lodge are all part of the schools catchment area. The school is situated on Waterfoot Road. Newton Mearns is an affluent commuter suburb, and consequently the school achieves consistently high marks in school performance tables. The Head Teacher is Mr Dean Smith.
The school has recently received a new extension. The extension of the school is part of a Public Private Partnership Project with builders HBG, the extension provides many extra classrooms, currently used for maths, social subjects and school office. Mearns Castle is situated next to Maxwell Mearns Church which hosts the numerous services for all yeargroups throughout the year. It is also positioned next to Mearns Castle, hence the name, "Mearns Castle High School"
Awards and recognition
The school was awarded the "Most similar sounding to Fearns Castle" Award, however, lost to Edinubrgh Castle as the most iconic "castle" in scotland.
The school was one of three finalists in the Most Enterprising Secondary as part of the Scottish Education Awards 2007, which aim to celebrate successes and recognise achievements in Scottish education.
The schools dux ran away. We are offering a reward or will give recognition to anyone who finds him.
The school participated in "are you smarter than a ten year old" and was disqualified as the principle mental age of the teachers were found to be of a ten year olds.
The schools ego can actually be felt as you enter the building.

Barneys New York is a chain of luxury department stores headquartered in New York City, headed by Judy Collinson, EVP and GMM of the Women's Division and Tom Kalendarian, EVP and GMM for the Men's Division. The chain is composed of several large stores (dubbed flagships by the company) in New York City, Beverly Hills, and Boston (average size 94,853square feet (8,810m2)) and smaller stores, including those who target younger consumers and discount stores (average size 12,133square feet (1,130m2)).
Merchandise selections come from a variety of designers including Giorgio Armani, Manolo Blahnik, Fendi, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Jil Sander, Dries van Noten, Diane von Furstenberg, and Ermenegildo Zegna, as well as Barneys private label merchandise. The company began in 1923, when Barney Pressman opened his first store in Manhattan with the $500 raised by pawning his wife's engagement ring in order to lease a 500-square-foot (46m2) retail space at Seventh Avenue and West 17th Street in Manhattan, which would become the original Barney's store, with 20 ft (6m) of frontage and an awning identifying the store as "Barney's Clothes." The store was stocked with 40 brand name suits and a big sign with a slogan, "No Bunk, No Junk, No Imitations." Barney's was able to sell tailored clothing at discounted prices by purchasing showroom samples, retail overstocks, manufacturers' closeouts at auctions and bankruptcy sales. It also offered free alterations and free parking to attract customers. As business grew, eventually three floors above street level, starting in 1934, would be gradually added to the store.
Barney Pressman claimed to be the first Manhattan retailer to use radio and television, beginning with "Calling All Men to Barney's" radio spots in the 1930s that parodied the introduction of the Dick Tracy show. He sponsored radio programs featuring Irish tenors and bands playing jigs to advertise Irish woolens. Outside of broadcast media, he was more eccentric in promoting his store. Women encased in barrels gave away matchbooks with the store name and address. He even chartered a boat to take 2,000 of his customers from Manhattan to Coney Island.
For decades Barney's was known for cut-rate men's suits. By 1964, the store started to shed its discount image and went upscale. In a 1973 interview to Business Week, Fred Pressman became "convinced that the discount route definitely was not for us. My father and I have always hated cheap goods.... I didn't want to sell low-end merchandise. Now, many of those who chose to are verging on bankruptcy."
The original four-level store was expanded in 1970 when another story to the original store and a five-story addition was erected adjacent to the original store. The original store was renamed America House and the addition was named International House. The expanded store finally occupied the entire Seventh Avenue block where it began (between 16th and 17th streets), with 100,000square feet (9,300m2) of selling space and 20 individual shops.
International House, Fred Pressman promised, would feature complete collections of European designers, "from denim pants to $250 suits," not just a watered-down "potpourri of fabrics and models." The renovated America House, he said, would hold merchandise from "manufacturers who are in effect designers."
By 1973, the store was stocking 60,000 suits, 1,500 times the number when it first opened in the 500-square-foot (46m2) leased space 50 years earlier. It carried the full lines of designers such as Bill Blass, Pierre Cardin, Christian Dior, and Hubert de Givenchy. It became the first clothing store in the U.S. to stock the full line of Giorgio Armani, after signing an exclusive agreement in...(and so on)

The Baby-sitters Club is a series of children's books, written by Ann M. Martin and published by Scholastic between 1986-2000, which sold over 175 million copies.
This series is about a group of middle school students living in the fictional town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. They run a business (in a Super-Special adults come and say they need to have 200 dollars per month made to have it a real business. Kristy denies the club being a business after that) Baby-sitters Club, in which parents call during their club meetings (which take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:30-6:00 p.m.) and schedule a babysitter for a certain day/time. The club runs financially on dues and fundraising, and the babysitters write diaries of their jobs to help each other. The members of the club are also best friends, although they go through many conflicts throughout the series.
The club starts out with four members (Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, and Stacey McGill), eventually expanding to ten. All of the main characters are thirteen, with the exception of junior members Mallory Pike and Jessica Ramsey, who are two years younger. When the club was founded (in 1986), the four members were in the seventh grade, but ten books later (1988), they are promoted to the eighth grade. From there, they are frozen in time until the very end of the series (2000), in which they graduate from middle school.

Kristy is known for her great ideas (mainly, The Baby-sitters Club), as well as her bossiness and a big mouth that can occasionally get her into trouble. Something of a tomboy, Kristy is usually in her "uniform" of jeans and a t-shirt (in the winter, a turtleneck and, if needed, a sweater) sneakers, and sometimes a baseball cap, and she loves sports, even coaching a softball team for younger children, known as Kristy's Krushers.
When Kristy was six, her father walked out on her family, including her mother, Elizabeth, and three brothers, Charlie, Sam, and David Michael. Her mother later married Watson Brewer, a millionaire who resided on the up-scale end of Stoneybrook. Initially, Kristy loathed Watson, but gradually opened up, and accepted him. When Elizabeth and Watson married, the Thomases moved into his mansion, where they lived with Watson's two children from his previous marriage, Karen and Andrew Brewer. The family later adopts a two-year-old girl from Vietnam, whom they name Emily Michelle Thomas-Brewer.Then Kristy's grandmother, Nannie moves in to help raise Emily Michelle and the rest of the family.
During the series, Kristy has little interest in boys but later finds herself attracted to Bart, a boy who also happens to coach a softball team, Bart's Bashers, in Stoneybrook. Later on, they break up due to the strong feelings Bart maintains for Kristy, which she is unable to reciprocate.
